Use A Trip As Incentive For Sales From Your Employees

Many businesses use vacations as incentives for their employees to make more sales. For example, they may send anyone who gets 50 sales or more over the next six months to Jamaica, with all expenses covered. While it may seem like a way to bribe them into working harder, it's more of an inspirational tool.

A Bonus in Addition to Base Pay and Commission

You hopefully already pay your sales team members excellent wages and possibly even commission for their sales. So why would you need to incentivize their jobs even more? As it turns out, these programs are very effective at increasing productivity, even in already-successful teams.

Group or Individual Trips

There's more than one way to approach using vacations as sales incentives. Many companies use a program that allows people who reach specific goals to go on a group trip with other employees. Another option is paying for an employee to take a trip independently, with friends or family members.

It Gives Them a Meaningful Goal

Why is it practical to offer paid trips for your employees to meet sales goals? It gives them something specific to look forward to in return for working harder. You can put up pictures around the office of past winners celebrating while on their trips to inspire your employees to be next.

As a bonus, using trips as sales incentives will bring your employees closer together, as they will all share a common goal. You may be surprised at how much better they work together and encourage each other to succeed. Having multiple winning slots available avoids creating a competitive atmosphere and encourages them to work as a team.

Utilizing a Tier System

Many sales incentive programs will offer different rewards in addition to paid trips. For example, they might offer gifts, gift cards, etc., for folks who reach lower sales goals. Your best option is to use a tier program, where the highest winners get the best rewards, but everyone has the opportunity to win something as long as they reach particular sales goals.

How the Programs Work

You won't have to set up a sales incentive program on your own, as there are companies that specialize in creating these types of reward packages. You will promote them during the process, as their logo or company name will be on the reward materials. Because of this, you won't pay as much for the rewards as you would if you did it all independently.
